Hello!
I am new to the Moonglade realm, having previously played since February 2005 on Emerald Dream. My main throughout the majority of that period was a Disco priest named Anaximander.
I quit the game approximately 3 months after the release of Cata as a) each heroic encounter was an exercise in frustration (WOTLK bequeathed us a generation of 'z0mg look @ mi dps am i n0t l33t!!!1 lol' players which wasn't compatible with the more thoughtful approach to dungeons required in Cata, with healers and tanks footing the bill and b) whilst jammed full of content it quickly became apparent that for all Cata's wonders the game hadn't evolved since its 2004 release.
So I mimbled about in the wilderness for a bit. I had tried AION towards the end of my WOW subscription, but was underwhelmed. RIFT was good, but it was basically WOW with the occasional tentacle unfurling from the sky. I didn't fancy returning to EVE or Guild Wars. All the plans I had for my newly rediscovered free time - causing a global extinction event, blowing up the moon, assassinating Margaret Thatcher, the usual stuff - didn't come to fruition, so I resolved to return to WOW on a much more casual basis. "A RP realm will likely be a calmer environment," I thought. Moonglade looked reasonably well populated. Here I am
I am the wrong side of all ages up to 30. I reside with my recently wed good lady wife (who also used to play but is more resolute in her determination not to return to the game) and our two kittehs Princess Poocake Ophelia Roseline-May V and His Royal Highness Lolcat Hugo Percival Winstanley VIII. I live in and am from West Sussex. I am a senior technical underwriter for Zurich (property/casualty, commercial risks - very exciting and engaging stuff). I graduated in 2001 with what turned out to be a vocationally essential degree in history and philosophy . . .
Iamblicus is a resto shammy (offspec 'mental) who excels at furtively scampering around the back of a party hoping earth shield will do all his work for him so as not to have to reveal his otherwise all-too-evident inadequacies. I also have a level 1 (and presently unplayed) goblin warrior, who will be prot, named Purestgreen, in homage to the delightful Lord Percy Percy.
My main 'thing' in WOW is the levelling experience. This tends to mean I spawn an army of toons on any given realm, but I'm keen to avoid falling into the WOW time-sink too far this time round, so I'll be focussing on levelling and 5-man parties with the aforementioned greenies. I've never been a big raider. On my first main, Nappypants (dearly departed), I had a fair degree of involvement in most of the old haunts up to Kara, less so thereafter with Anaximander (retired). Both were priests (which does NOT reflect any out-of-WOW deviances I may or may not have).
I was previously an officer in The Infernals on Emerald Dream. Though a member for a long time, leaving was actually pretty easy given the wife and I still attend guild meets and maintain contact with friends via social media.
I think that just about covers everything. As before, ping me a /w in game if there's anything further I can help with.
Regards,
Iamblicus
